Answer 1 of 11: We are a family travelling with young children and are planning to go to Croatia for the third time in June 2012. Now, I would like to hear some opinions on whether to stay 4 days in Brac, Hvar or Vis.

Some of the most attractive day trip destinations are the islands: Brač,; Hvar; Vis; Korčula. and the nearby towns: Imotski; Sinj; Trilj; Split; Trogir

11 days from Split 1 night, Vis 2 nights, Split 1 night, Brac 1 night, Hvar 2 nights, Korcula 1 night, Dubrovnik 2 nights. Truly the best of Dalmatia, including Vis and Brac as well as the more well known islands of Hvar and Korcula. The ferry from Split to Vis town, is the only option to get to Island Vis from the mainland, unless you rent or charter your own boat.Split and Vis are connected year round with a car ferry, In July and August there is up to 4 daily connections which also include a fast ferry / catamaran between Split and Vis, In May, June, September and October there is up to 3 daily departures. I haven't been to Brac or Mljet, but here are my thoughts on the others: Split is a large city. We stayed at Base Rooms inside Diocletian's Palace for two nights, which we found to be just right. It was interesting and there was a beach within walking distance. Vis is a small, less-visited island accessible via daily ferries from Split.
